Title: Math Teacher

Reports To: Principal

At The dePaul School for Dyslexia, we focus on identifying the needs of our learners and filling in specific learning gaps utilizing research-based, explicit, sequential, multisensory teaching methods. We support our staff with ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices for assessing teaching students with language-based learning differences.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

• Create lesson plans and teach math skills to students with language-based learning differences (including Dyslexia and Dyscalculia) grades 5-8.
• Be flexible to teach another subject if required.
• Track student progress and plan lessons accordingly.
• Establish procedures and behavior expectations for the management of multi-age classes.
• Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, track grades, and prepare report cards.
• Communicate with parents to inform, update, and discuss students’ progress.
• Maintain professional competence through continued professional development.
• Regularly adjust to flexible scheduling and frequent student changes. 
• Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities as necessary.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required.
• Teaching experience required. 
• Training in leveraging manipulatives preferred.
• Experience working with children with language-based learning differences preferred.

Title: Elementary School Physical Education Teacher

·       Presents the subject matter according to guidelines established by school administration.

·       Plans and uses appropriate instructional/learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment.

·       Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods.

     Coordinates and coaches 3 sports per year after school for middle school students.

·       Uses technology in the teaching/learning/ assessing process.

·       Consistently assesses student achievement through formal and informal assessments.

·       Supervise students.

·       Coordinate teacher responsibilities with supervisor including lunch duty, carline, parent teacher conferences and open houses.

Job Description

Title: School Guidance Counselor

A School Guidance Counselor plays an important role in promoting a positive and safe environment in an educational institution. This position requires an individual with strong interpersonal skills and extensive knowledge of counseling and guidance theory and best practices. To ensure student academic, social and emotional success, the School Guidance Counselor will provide a range of services including individual and group counseling, conflict resolution, crisis intervention, and training. With a combination of understanding, empathy, and knowledge of the subject matter, the School Guidance Counselor can help shape a school's atmosphere and have a direct and profound impact on student development.

Responsibilities:

·       Provide individual and group counseling services to students.

·       Address behavioral issues and provide crisis intervention when necessary.

·       Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to support student success.

·       Coordinate and implement prevention programs related to bullying, substance abuse, and mental health.

·       Offer resources and referrals to external support services.

·       Support students in developing social skills and managing peer relationships.

·       Maintain accurate records and documentation of student interactions.

·       Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.

·       Advocate for student needs within the school community.

·       Train teaching staff on reporting, ethics, behavior (annually during Aug pre planning)

Qualifications:

Required: 

·       Licensed as a mental health therapist (LMHC, LMFT, LCSW) 

·       Masters or Doctorate degree in Counseling or Education

·       Experience working with school age children and their parents in mental health and/or school setting 

·       Professional Liability Insurance (unless the school insurance will cover them)

·       Experience assessing risk issues with children and teens; crisis intervention

Preferred:

·       Experience in working in / with / or coordinating with school settings

·       Experience teaching social skills, coping skills to children individually and in groups

·       Experience providing Parenting support 

·       Experience setting up and supporting behavior management and interventions

·       Experience working with children with special needs such as learning disabilities

• Teach structured literacy (phonemic awareness, decoding and encoding strategies) using Orton-Gillingham methods.
• Track student progress and plan lessons accordingly.
• Establish procedures and behavior expectations for the management of multi-age classes.
• Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, track grades, and prepare report cards.
• Communicate with parents to inform, update, and discuss students’ progress.
• Maintain professional competence through continued professional development.
• Regularly adjust to flexible scheduling and frequent student changes. 
• Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities as necessary.

• Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, track grades, and prepare report cards.
• Communicate with parents to inform, update, and discuss students’ progress.
• Maintain professional competence through continued professional development.
• Regularly adjust to flexible scheduling and frequent student changes. 
• Potentially teach other subject areas as schedule requires.
• Leverage experience and training to adjust teaching styles and curriculum to student needs.
• Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities as necessary.
